Okay so I just deleted the almost-finished post.
Don't you hate when that happens? I was almost finished with the post and then I cleverly clicked the X button without thinking and closed the window. GREAT.
So, let's try to recap...
1. Orlando Magic beat the Chicago Bulls
(111-82) for their seventh win in a row--season high! Daaaaaayummm! They also pushed the Bulls out of their spot in the Eastern Conference final playoffs. Too bad MJ's not playing anymore... Vince Carter had 23 points, Dwight Howard made 18 points and 11 rebounds in the first half. I'm glad Vince Carter has been on his game recently, because when he's not, he's REALLY not. Things are looking up for the Magic; let's just hope they can keep it up in the playoffs.
2. Something I really like right now. Jay Electronica's Exhibit C.
Okay, so my best friend introduced me to Jay Electronica and he's all into philosophical hooplah and whatnot, so he really likes Jay Electronica for his lyrics because he doesn't just talk about bitchez and hoz or getting money and getting paid. So I've heard some of his music before but it's really starting to grow on me. I played it on my radio show tonight (digression: Listen to the Classic Throwback with me, Professor Gnargnar, every Thursday from 10pm-midnight eastern time at wmhb.org for some good ol' hip hop music), and I realized how much of the shiznits Jay Electronica is. Definitely worth a listen.
3. Kind of old news, but the Gorillaz came out with their newest album, Plastic Beach, on March 3. It's pretty good, I'd give it a 6 out of 10, but that's just because I'm not so
into the more eclectic stuff and I guess there was a lot of hype about it before it came out so I had high expectations. If you don't want to buy it off of iTunes (because that costs an arm and a leg) and you don't want to download it (because you feel bad for taking away from the already impoverished music industry--NOT), you can stream it free from nahright here. It's worth a listen, although you can't skip songs, you've got to listen to the whole thing all the way through. It's kind of nice not to have the ability to skip around and listen to snippets of songs. Maybe that's just because it takes me three billion hours to do my French homework so it's nice to have some music to go with that. (I just remembered that I think I might have written about this last time...)
Most catchy song: Superfast Jellyfish by Gorillaz

4. For those of you who are Johnny Cupcakes fans (all five of you?), JC put out his dates and locations for his next suitcase tour. You can find a list of the dates on the Johnny Cupcakes site here. That should be pretty exciting.
4. OKAY, last thing. I'm playing this new song by Travis McCoy (yes, the guy from Gym Class Heroes) that's called Billionaire (ft. Bruno Mars) that's SO catchy. Take a gander and this ditty will definitely be stuck in your head for the next two weeks. Might I also add that I have always and still believe that Travis McCoy is one of the most gorgeous men on earth? Sorry, I don't know if you knew that it was a girl that was writing these blogs, but yeah...I dig his tats. Too bad he and Katy Perry broke it off. Anyways, it's time for me to study for my French midterm. Give some feedback if you like what you're reading (or don't). Bon week-end all!

Souls of Mischief are back again

1. So, for those of you who peruse hip-hop blogs on a daily basis, you probably already know this, but I'm going to tell you about it anyway. Souls of Mischief are back with some new stuff on Montezuma's Revenge, which was the product of six weeks of seclusion in the wilderness in San Francisco somewhere. Six weeks of nothing but making music...this promises great results. I haven't listened to it yet, but I definitely will sometime in the very near future. If you want to read an interview that rubyhornet did with the group, you can find it here.

2. Magic are playing the Lakers. So it seems Vince Carter is on today, which is always a good thing for the Magic. But Kobe is also heating up, and we all know what that means. Whatever the result, this is going to be one heck of a game. I'm sure everyone back home in Hawaii is stoked to watch their favorite team play in a competitive game...too bad I'm not rooting for the Lakers. But I can't deny they play a great game and they are a great team.
3. Lil Wayne ft. Eminem - Drop the World music video. Pretty dope video, pretty sick song too. Eminem seems to be making himself seen every once in a while here and there, which is nice because I don't know what I'd do if he left the music scene altogether. And, of course, from the man who claimed to have conquered hip-hop, I can't expect anything more than great things. I can't say I like Lil Wayne's swagger but there's no way I can say he's not one of the best rappers around.
4. Saw Alice in Wonderland last night and it absolutely blew my mind. I haven't read the reviews yet, but I've heard they're all pretty bad, which I cannot fathom. The plot was so multi-faceted and really got my mind running. I definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested. Time Burton put a great twist on the already somewhat-dark classic.
That's all for today. Hopefully the actual creator of this blog will write on it every once in a while. Until then, you're stuck with me. Time to write a six-page paper discussing my good friend Aristotle. Where does the weekend ever go?

Steve Aoki Remix - Forever (by Drake)
Steve Aoki is my absolute favorite. He is son of the founder of Benihana restaurants and brother of the owner of Doraku Sushi restaurants. How could you get any better than that? Oh yeah, and his dad was also a Japanese Olympic wrestler. SO COOL. Download link below.
